Professor Stephen Kaye
Co-FounderProfessor Stephen Kaye is a Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Liverpool and a Consultant Ophthalmologist at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital. A leading authority in ocular surface disease, he serves as the Director of the Liverpool Research Eye Biobank and has published over 500 papers in medical and scientific journals.
Professor Kaye has held prestigious leadership roles, including Vice President of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists and Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Ophthalmology. Recognized as the 2018 NIHR and Royal College of Ophthalmologists Researcher of the Year, he provides unparalleled expertise for clinical consultations, medicolegal reports, and technical research advice.
Co-FounderDr. Lesley Kaye
Dr. Lesley Kaye is a distinguished Ophthalmologist specializing in Paediatric Ophthalmology. Beginning her career at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, she went on to lead the Paediatric Ophthalmic service at Southport and Ormskirk hospitals for over three decades. Notably, she established and directed the critical Retinopathy of Prematurity Screening Programme in the Special Care Baby Unit until 2025.
Dr. Kaye has held prestigious leadership roles, including Associate Medical Director for SAS Doctors, where she successfully championed the recognition of autonomous practitioners and introduced the BMA’s SAS Charter. She served on the Paediatric and Scientific committees for The Royal College of Ophthalmologists and has been widely recognized for her excellence, receiving the 2020 Northwest SAS Clinical Achievement Award and the 2024 NHS England Undergraduate Educator Award.
